Whether you’re a complete novice or an experienced pilot looking to polish up your skills, we’ve got you covered. At Highbrook Aero Modellers, we offer training and guidance tailored to your level – from the basics of RC flight to advanced techniques. We even provide trial flights on request, giving you the chance to experience the thrill of flying before committing. Our friendly and experienced members are always happy to help new pilots get airborne with confidence.
Big and small
Our club proudly accommodates all types of model aircraft – from small electric park flyers to large-scale IC planes, jets, drones, and helicopters. Whether you’re flying fixed-wing or rotorcraft, there’s space for everyone. We operate from a well-maintained 172-metre grass runway and have an approved ceiling height of 900 feet, giving pilots the freedom to fly safely and confidently within city limits. Few clubs in New Zealand can match this level of access and versatility right in the heart of Auckland.
Come and have a go
Come and have a go – no experience needed! We offer hands-on training with a dedicated club trainer plane and a buddy box system, allowing you to fly safely with the guidance of an experienced instructor. It’s the perfect way to get started in the hobby or brush up on your skills. We also have a wide selection of training aircraft available in both Mode 1 and Mode 2 configurations, so you can learn in the style that suits you best. Everyone is welcome to give it a try!

The Field is Open 7 Days A Week!
Our flying field is open 7 days a week – giving members the freedom to fly when it suits them. During summer, the field is open from 8:00am to 8:00pm, and in winter from 9:00am to 5:00pm. All members are issued a key to the HAM gate, allowing convenient access to the site throughout the year. Whether you’re an early riser or prefer evening flights, there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy the skies.
