Highbrook Aero Modellers hosted a free Open Day on Sunday 22nd March 2026 from 10am to 3pm at their flying field in Highbrook Park, Pukekiwiriki Place. The event provided a great opportunity for families, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about model aircraft to experience the excitement of radio-controlled flying.
Activities On the Day
Throughout the day, visitors were able to watch impressive flying demonstrations by our Wings-qualified pilots, showcasing a wide variety of radio-controlled aircraft including scale warbirds, sport planes, and aerobatic models. Our pilots put their aircraft through their paces with precision flying and entertaining displays.
Visitors also had the chance to try flying themselves on a flight simulator, giving them a taste of what it is like to control a model aircraft. Our club members were on hand to chat, answer questions, and show visitors some of the aircraft up close in the static display area.
Whether attendees were interested in getting started in the hobby, looking for a local club to join, or simply wanted a fun day out watching model aircraft in action, the Highbrook Aero Modellers Open Day was a fantastic event for all ages.
